About Us

Osageyfo Dr. Kwame Nwia Kofie Nkrumah
(1909-1972)
Former President of Ghana

“Our minds are God’s gift to us. What we do with our minds, how we develop them and use them to bless others, free others and be the best people we can be — made in God’s image — is our gift back to God!

The purpose of education — especially for Africans living in Diaspora — is to develop our God-given minds to their fullest potential in order to give God the very best gift that is humanly possible to give.

Kwame Nkrumah, Ida B. Wells, W.E.B. DuBois, Cheikh Anta Diop and Barbara Jordan serve as models of excellence in education and we strive to replicate their models with every fiber of our being.
We give to our youth a rich legacy that has been passed down to us as a sacred trust. It is our intention to honor that trust every day that God gives us.â€

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.

“Education is a family affair and each child in our midst is a gift from God to be protected, cherished and supported. To educate a child is the path to empower a people, sustain a community and create new possibilities for generations yet unborn.

As teachers and parents, we nurture life, hope and dreams to our children. We must inspire each child to remember and respect the legacy of those generations past. We must impart knowledge to each child so he or she will never fall prey to hopelessness and defeat. We must embrace unity so that each child always has the feeling of belonging and dares to dream of contributing to a better tomorrow for all of humanity.

As the ancestors of Africans who survived the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade System, we dedicate the Kwame Nkrumah Academy as living proof that, by faith and good works, we defy the door of no return. May all who walk, work and study here embrace all that is good and life-giving.

May the circle never be unbroken!â€

Dr. Iva E. Carruthers

In faith, we extend our thanksgiving and appreciation to all those who supported the vision of this global center of educational excellence. We hereby dedicate the Kwame Nkrumah Academy for the nurturing and education of our children of this generation and those yet unborn.
