Principal’s Message

Welcome KNA Families~

Welcome to a brand new year at Kwame Nkrumah Academy!  My name is Mama Ericka Williams, and I am the principal of Kwame Nkrumah Academy.  This past summer, our teachers, office assistants, custodians, and other critical support staff have been diligently working to make KNA clean and bright for your children to learn in a safe and welcoming environment.  I am looking forward to the day when the doors open for the new year so that I can welcome all of the students and their families to a new school year.

Our school services students’ kindergarten through eighth grade.  We also have a myriad of community partnerships within the Roseland Community that have helped to enhance the rich African –Centered culture at KNA. This year we are proud to have the opportunity to unveil our mosaic mural and community garden. The staff at KNA is very enthusiastic and dedicated to meeting the individual needs of all of our students and we look forward to fostering and creating even more community partnerships.

At KNA, the parents, teachers, and support staff are all part of a unified village family working hard to ensure the safety and well-being of all children while providing them with a challenging and rewarding educational experience. As parents, you play an integral role as a part of this family in the education of your child. Your involvement in your child’s education will help your child achieve more success and have a positive outlook on school.  Please be sure to read the monthly newsletters and calendars that are on our website.  Get to know your child’s teacher and stay updated on classroom and school events.  I’d also like to encourage you to join our newly established Parent Teacher Council that actively supports our staff in providing our children with the best educational experience and learning opportunities possible. Visitors are always welcome at Kwame Nkrumah Academy, and I encourage you to stop in.  When visiting, please enter through the main doors and obtain a visitor’s pass in the office.

I am truly excited to serve as the principal of Kwame Nkrumah Academy Village Family and share this upcoming school year with you and your child.  I would love the opportunity to meet you, so please feel free to stop by the main office to introduce yourself.  Building a strong home-school partnership is important to me and vital to a child’s successful educational journey.  Thank you for entrusting us to nurture, encourage, challenge, and enjoy your precious ones as we embark on the 2017-2018 school year!

In partnership,

Mama Ericka Williams, Principal
